Dear Friends, A very special AGO“Festival of Hymns”will take place in our community next month, and we, the co-directors of the event, would like to personally invite you and your choir to join us in celebration and song. The festival will take place onSunday, March 2, 2025 at 3:00 PM at The Church of St. Patrick, Huntington(400 Main Street, Huntington, NY). Well-loved hymns will be sung by a Massed Choir as well as Congregation, in wonderful arrangements featuring St. Patrick’s two mighty Glück pipe organs along with a professional brass quartet and timpani. Our goal is to pack the church with singers, to raise a song unlike any other heard on Long Island in recent history! There aretwo waysthat you and your choirs may choose to participate: 1)Sing with theMassed Choir: The Massed Choir will sing all of the music of the program, including special choir-only arrangements and verses. Massed Choir participants must attend the rehearsal the day before the festival,Saturday, March 1, 2025, 9:30am to 2pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Cold Spring Harbor(1670 Route 25A, Cold Spring Harbor - behind the fish hatchery). A fee of $20 per person collected that day will cover the cost of the festival sheet music, which each participant will be able to keep after the festival. Many of the scores and practice audio for each piece will be provided by email in advance. The call time for the Massed Choir participants on Sunday, March 2nd will be 1pm (at St. Patrick's Huntington) before the 3pm program. OR 2)Sing with the Congregation: If you cannot make the rehearsal, please still plan on joining us in the pews the day of the festival! Many hymns will feature congregational participation, with all invited to sing well-known SATB harmonizations that will be printed in a detailed program booklet. To register for the Massed Choiror for any questions, please contact Christopher Cusumano at[email protected]or (631) 271-4635. Please register by Friday, February 14th. We believe that this will be an event to remember: a powerful musical celebration and a great opportunity to connect with fellow singers from across the island. Hoping to sing with you soon! Sincerely, The “Festival of Hymns” Co-Directors, Bryce Westervelt,Matthew Koraus, andMichael C. Haigler, on behalf of the Nassau and Suffolk Chapters of the American Guild of Organists
